Is anyone else like me?  My husband is TAD or deployed and the idea of getting the entire bed to myself sounds great at first.  I imagine not getting elbowed in the head or having my covers ripped off me in the middle of the night…

But then I realize I don’t have anyone to say Good Night to… and then I get bored.  So of course, a song volunteers to fill the silence…

I guess I should let you in on a little secret.  I tend to overreact to noise when I sleep alone.  I think it comes from a history of reading Patricia Cornwell novels before I had kids.  Back then I ended up sleeping with all dogs in the room and a loaded shotgun next to the bed.

Fast forward a few years, living on base does provide me with a bit of security, but I still get a little crazy now and then.  Any little noise outside can still set me off…

I immediately go through my plan of grabbing the kids, bringing them into my room and the lock-down procedures that should take place thereafter…. then I realize my house hasn’t burst into flames and sirens are not going off.

All is still right with the world and I can finally relax and go.to.sleep.
